CES 2010: What’s on when?
CES 2010 kicks off this week, taking Las Vegas by storm as the biggest tech and gadget manufacturers in the world convene in the most technologically advanced game of one-upmanship since the cold war. Best of all, you’ll see it all here.
We’ve got liveblogs, roving reporters and photographers ready to bring you everything CES has to offer. So what’s in store? Read our handy CES timetable, and find out what’s on, and when.
Tuesday January 5th
Asus Press conference, 9:30pm GMT
The CES show floor doesn’t open for another two days, but the event itself kicks off in earnest on the 5th, with Asus holding the first press conference at 1:30pm Vegas time, or 9:30pm in the UK. We’ll be liveblogging proceedings, so you can see the latest news as it happens.
CES Unveiled, 12:00pm GMT
A sort of pre-CES show, CES Unveiled is where some of the smaller tech firms show off their most innovative kit. Each year it throws up a few must-see gadgets, and more than once we’ve been blown away by the products on show. If you want a techie surprise, CES Unveiled is where you’ll find it. We won’t be liveblogging the event, since it’s essentially a meeting room stuffed with trestle tables and glad-handing PR folk, but as soon as we’ve muscled our way out of the room, you’ll see updates appearing on Electricpig.
Wednesday January 6th
Most of the big hitters at CES hold their press conferences on the same day. It’s a back-to-back smorgasbord of announcements, and we’re liveblogging every single one. Want to see what the big boys will be offering in 2010? Then get your eyes on Electricpig at the times below, and you’ll see live updates and photos from each press conference.
LG press conference, 4pm GMT
Toshiba press conference, 6pm GMT
Sharp press conference, 8pm GMT
Cisco press conference, 9pm GMT
Samsung press conference, 10pm GMT
Panasonic press conference, 11pm GMT
Thursday January 7th
Because of the time differences, some of Wednesday’s press conferences will spill into Thursday morning in the UK. Stay up late, or get up early, and you’ll catch all the announcements from the companies below as they happen.
Sony press conference, 12:30am GMT
Sanyo press conference, 1:30am GMT
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft keynote, 2:30am GMT
Digital Experience, 3am GMT
Another pre-CES show, but larger than CES Unveiled. In previous years we’ve found some great gadgets making their debut at Digital Experience, not to mention unearthing a few tasty nuggets of information from those manning their stands. We won’t be liveblogging it as updates on our tired feet and progress towards the buffet are unlikely to be interesting, but stay tuned for news from the floor of Digital Experience just in time for your cornflakes in Blighty.
Intel press conference, 3:30pm GMT
The first proper press conference of Thursday in Las Vegas is Intel’s. It’ll followed by a bunch of others, but since it’s also the first day the show floor is open, we’ll be fanning out military style, bringing you booth tours and news from the show floor, as well as live coverage as announcements are made.
Nvidia press conference, 6pm GMT
Palm press conference, 7pm GMT
MSI press conference, 10pm GMT
Friday January 8th
It might be the last weekday, but CES is just getting into full swing. We’ll be scouring the show floor for tasty tidbits tucked away from general view. We’ve got meetings lined up with manufacturers promising behind the scenes looks at stuff not generally on show. Oh, and Electricpig editor James Holland will be broadcasting live from CES on Sky News at 7pm GMT. A bit like Elvis, but without the jumpsuit.
Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo CES keynote, 5pm GMT
Qualcomm CEO Dr Paul E Jacobs’ CES keynote, 7pm GMT
Electricpig editor James Holland, live on Sky News Technology Unplugged, 7pm GMT
