Intel laptop packs four screens

IntelAt first glance, this Intel powered laptop on show at its Developer Forum looks like any other portable PC. But have a look just above the keyboard: there are no fewer than 3 touchscreen displays hovering by the QWERTY. And aren’t they OLED too? Oh yes indeedy.

Chip maker Intel is showcasing its new processors and the tech they can fuel in San Francisco this week, and one of prototypes it had on show was this laptop with four screens.

It’s codenamed Tangent Bay, and it packs three small, vibrant OLED touch panels along with a regular sized LCD main screen, which can be used to drag and drop windows, which can then be flicked up to the desktop quickly and easily for serious multitasking. It’s ideal if you have email or instant messaging going on in the background, but want to keep your head down and get on with your work, for instance.

The Intel concept is similar to Asus’s M50 laptop we saw back at CES in January, with a separate screen and computer instead of a trackpad. Unfortunately, Intel didn’t say if or when we’d see a laptop like this coming to market, but we’re hopeful somebody takes the hint, as this has “Want” scrawled over it. Here’s hoping Samsung swipes the idea and puts an OLED panel on the main display too.
